Kitronik motor kontroler za BBC micro:bit v2

This board provides a simple way to add motor driving capability to a BBC micro:bit. It allows two motors to be driven with full forward, reverse & stop control. It has terminal blocks to connect four input devices and a regulated 3V supply is fed in to the 80 way connector to power the inserted BBC micro:bit.

In this new version, the pins from the BBC micro:bit are now broken out to pads on the end of the Motor Driver Board. These pads can either be soldered onto directly, or they are the correct spacing for our PCB pin headers (see image below for a close up of the new pads).

It is ideal for designs such as buggies (see below).

It includes an integrated Edge Connector slot for your BBC micro:bit to easily slot into. It also features external connections to the Buttons A and B inputs. This allows additional switches to be connected to the motor driver board and the state of these can then be read by the BBC micro:bit.

Kitronik audio cable f. BBC microbit

This is the perfect cable choice for those that want to output music or general sound for the BBC micro:bit, to either headphones or speakers.

At one end of the cable are the black and red crocodile clips, which connect to the microbits GND and Pin 0 respectively. At the other end of the cable is a 3.5mm TRS (tip, ring sleeve) stereo jack.

The 3.5mm TRS stereo jack means you can either connect your headphones directly to your BBC micro:bit or if you would rather use a speaker.

Note:

  • Although the BBC micro:bit can supply enough current to drive a pair of headphones, you will need an amplifier if you wish to drive an audio speaker.

Kitronik MI power board f. BBC microbit

The MI:power board for the BBC micro:bit brings real portability to your wearable projects. The stylish, lightweight PCB is designed to fit snugly against the BBC micro:bit and features a built in buzzer and 3V coin cell holder.

When assembled, the MI:power board is connected directly to the 3V, GND and P0 connections on the micro:bit. The 3V and GND connections provide power to the micro:bit and the built in buzzer is connected to P0, which is the default output pin when using the audio functions in the Block Editor software.

The board has an easy to access on/off switch, which makes it easy to turn a project on and off, rather than have to disconnect the power supply from the BBC micro:bit.

Once the unit is assembled and attached to the BBC micro:bit the mechanical fixings prevent the battery from being removed unless you use a screwdriver, so whatever the use, the battery will remain safely in place.

Kitronik Edge Conn. Breakout board f. BBC microbit - Pre-Built

Looking to do more with your BBC micro:bit? Unlock its potential with this pre-built version of our Edge Connector Breakout Board! This breakout board has been designed to offer an easy way to connect additional circuits and hardware to the pins on the edge of the BBC micro:bit. It provides access to all of the BBC micro:bit processor pins allowing a lot of extra functionality to be added. The datasheet (below) includes a helpful diagram explaining the function of every pin on the BBC micro:bit.

This Edge Connector Breakout Board for the BBC micro:bit gives access to all of the important pins on the bottom edge of the BBC micro:bit. 21 pins are broken out in total; providing additional I/O lines, direct access to buttons A and B, the LED matrix outputs and the I2C bus. Please refer to the datasheet below for more details.

The BBC micro:bit pins are broken out to a row of pin headers. These provide an easy way of connecting circuits using jumper wires. The SCL and SDA pins are separated at the edge of the board (solder pads) providing easy identification. The PCB includes a prototyping area with 3V, 0V and unconnected rows that can be soldered to. This allows the easy connection of switches, sensors and any pull-up or pull-down resistors etc. as required.

MI:power Case for the BBC micro:bit Orange or Green

This case has been designed to protect a BBC micro:bit with our MI:power board. The case fully encloses both of the PCBs creating a rugged unit that is ideal for creating portable designs. The clear front allows the BBC micro:bit to be seen inside the case, allowing the on-board LED matrix to be viewed.

This case is easy to assemble using the nylon screws provided.

The MI:pro protector case is available in four different colour options; Clear, Green, Orange and Blue. For each of the options the front and back plates are cut from clear Perspex and the mid layer pieces are cut from Perspex of the selected colour.

Self-centering spring loaded anal.thumbside joystick

This is a self centering spring loaded analog thumbslide joystick, very similar to those found on the PSP1000. These compact joysticks are different in that they have a very interesting slide feeling which makes it easier for the user to feel how far they've moved.

This thumb slide joystick is rated for 5V but we have noticed no issues when used at 3V as with the BBC micro:bit, with just a few blocks of code you can use the microbits LED matrix to track the joysticks movement which makes for much more interesting gameplay possibilities than just using the A and B buttons on the BBC micro:bit.

The rubber thumb pad is removable if you desire. The solder pads on the reverse are spaced by 2mm and the two mounting holes are the right diameter for M2 Machine Screws.

The X & Y axis pads on the underside of the joystick output an analog voltage, you can code the microbit to monitor and read these voltages and translate that into an action. In the example further down the page we used the Microsoft Block Editor and made use of the 'map' block to read the output voltages from the X & Y Axis and convert them into a value from 0 to 4 so that the position of the jotstich can be tracked using the LED matrix on the micro bit.

Note:

For wiring this part; if you look at the device from the bottom, the pin out goes:

Pin 4 is the pin closest to the 2 mounting tabs found on the rear side of the device. You can expect a range of about 128 to 775 on each axis, though you will need to experiment as the range may vary slightly from joystick to joystick.
